Our office transformed into MEF Connects

Members and guests of the MEF (Mobile Ecosystem Forum) gathered on January 12th in our Kuala Lumpur office, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the mobile content and payments sector in the region and globally. Most of our employees had to work from home for one day, as Sam Media’s office was transformed into the first MEF Connects in Malaysia.

MEF Meet-up

As the sponsor of this event we made our entire office available. All the inventory was moved to storage the night before, to make room for a stage, seating, catering, etc. During that night guests were welcomed at Fuego at Troika Sky Dining, just across the street from the Sam Media office, for a networking event overlooking the iconic Petronas Towers. It was a great opportunity for MEF members and invited guests who came from all over the world, to get together and discuss all aspects of Mobile before the event properly got started the morning of January 12th.

Augmented Reality

The next day, guests were given a special welcome in our office. Visitors could get acquainted with a fun application of Augmented Reality. Scanning a QR code at the entrance, guests were welcomed by an AR Hologram of our CEO and co-founder, Alexis Bartelds. Of course the real Alexis was there as well, accompanied by Mohamad Okal, our Director of Products, who told guests more about what Sam Media does with AR, VR, AI and other technologies.

Robust discussion

Several panel discussions provided great insights into many different areas of mobile, and with robust discussion. “It’s clear fraud is a real, pervasive problem across the region and a lot of time was spent talking about how we as an industry need to collaborate and truly work together effectively to have a chance at being one step ahead of the bad actors.”, said James Williams, Director of Programmes at MEF. Footage of the first panel at this edition of MEF Connects, Ad Fraud & Digital Payments Fraud, will be published in the coming days on our website.

These are the other panel sessions at MEF Connects. Stay tuned for videos of these discussions;
